We also have ice storms that bring down trees, power lines, even - heck we have roof shovelers so houses don't collapse.  So we do know all too well what it's like and we pay taxes through the yazoo to deal with it, but we do.  They don't deal with it because their elected officials have decided it's not worth it to them, not because it is unmanageable.  So despite yearly storms and timely predictions, they believe that ignoring the road conditions, not purchasing proper equipment, materials etc is worth the safety issues for their residents. Suddenly they don't have a sense of humor about snow, ice. ;) Hope everyone made it home safe and sound but don't suddenly lose your regional humor about winter just because you're now the victim.
