Why are the bars far enough apart for that to even be a small possibility?

Looks like a three foot long black tip reef shark... not really a mortal threat, but definitely capable of delivering a nasty nip that requires stitches or perhaps taking a finger. Small enough to clip through the bars, like a dachshund with fins. Interesting social interactions when this Carcharhinus sp. swarms: sharks become more aggressive, bites on calves in shallow water are not uncommon!
