At Syracuse University in the late 1970s, she led an effort to name the Carrier Dome after football legend Ernie Davis, the first African-American Heisman Trophy winner. In other words, at 19, she picked a fight with Carrier Corp., one of Syracuse’s most prominent companies. She lost that battle, but not before charming her way into a meeting with the company’s top executive.

A most worthy consideration if/when a new stadium is built or if the present Dome undergoes major renovations. (As an aside--if the Dome is drastically altered by a renovation, it will no longer be a Dome as we know it, right? Therefore, it would no longer be the Carrier Dome; so renaming the altered structure shouldn't be an issue.)

Ms Hochul should definitely be invited to the renaming/dedication ceremony!

If the Dome drops the "Carrier" name it will just get another corporate sponsor. They won't name it after a player, can't afford too. Will need the money.

How about XYZ Corporation Stadium at Ernie Davis Legends Field?

The Ernie Davis Carrier Dome, Or the Ernie Davis KeyBank Dome.

Forever I thought, there wasn't a time limit mentioned in the contract.

But if it is renovated and no longer resembles the present-day Carrier Dome, can an argument be made that it is in fact no longer the Carrier Dome per se, and thus renaming is both logical and legal?

that is up the corporation and I am guessing if they are forking over millions upon millions of dollars they aren't gonna share the name of the stadium with a player. That's reality!
