Shotclock Violation

Confirms that the shot clock expired AFTER Brandon was fouled and BEFORE he got the shot off. Should have been FT's of some sort taken.

Blatantly missed call, not awarding those FTs.

I'd also like to get another look at the two 3-pt shot fouls they called, I couldn't see any contact but the announcers and crew didn't bother taking a look or even mentioning it,

If I have to hear one more word about the officiating on the coverage today, I'm going to be in a high state of piss off! But I can imagine them leading off with another story about it

Hey armory--apologies about the argument we had last night. I still don't agree with the post you made, but emotions were running high in the aftermath of that disappointing game. Hopefully no hard feelings.

Some players intentionally kick a leg out (while in the air)to create contact with a defender. As a player, it used to really piss me off...

Have they made any actual statements about this one yet? I still don't understand how Brandon didn't end the game standing on the line - probably shooting 2 shots. The whistle blew so the clock should have stopped. Maybe they don't award the basket, but a foul was called...

Isn't that, along with the flop, a Duke teaching point?

I agree. In addition, early in the game there were at least two 'touch' fouls called against Syracuse that were more like phantom fouls. Clearly a poorly reffed game, but the calls certainly did not all go SU's way.

OK, let me get this straight.

The ref to the right of the hoop, along the baseline called the foul...right?

So it's on UNCA #2 (Dickey) as BT went up, right?

If not, what foul did the talking heads think occurred AFTER the shot clock expired?

Just trying to get onboard...

That was my take too. First contact was foul...Triche given continuation. The fact that the shot wasn't released in time doesn't negate the foul. IMHO it should still be a shooting foul because he had made his move to the hoop. But I could understand if they called it "on the floor." But either way, it's still a foul.

agreed and therefore the shotclock resets.. it was a shooting foul.. he was in the act the ball just didnt leave his fingertips in time for the and 1 .. they got it wrong for sure.

What is wrong with you? ;) All apologizing and &%...

44cuse

the way the announcers talked of a player tries to shoot and gets tied up and never releases then its not a shooting foul.. thats strange logic. but then again its reggie miller

Ditto. I knew I shouldn't have been on any chat rooms or boards after that game. I crossed the line, I was in this type of mood:

Maybe one of you guys with more time than me, can email Bilas or Katz and see if they can address how the Triche end of half situation should have been handled...as opposed to trying to them trying find a justification for the way it was in fact handled.

if a foul inhibits the shooter from getting a shot off before the shot clock or game clock expires and the ref blows the whistle it has to be a shooting foul. it would have left his fingertips if he wasn't fouled.

The logic there was insane like the whistle never happened? Whistle blew before either had expired so the shot clock should have been irrelevant imo. then they gave them the ball. just horrible officiating yest.
