I hate articles like this one:

(Firstly, I can't progress beyond Dan Hampton for some reason - but I really don't want to.)

How would you like to be the guy to notify a Hall of Famer that he had been 'unelected' because the standards have changed?

Secondly, the election to the Hall is a joint decision by a lot of people who have seen a lot of football, (or baseball...or basketball or...), and know as much as the author of the article, who seems to think that his opinion should be the determining factor.

I know - it's click-bait. But don't these guys have something better to do? And are the feelings of the subjects of the article considered?

The problem is the games evolve and change and people lose perspective on how good some of the HoF were.

I'm also of the belief and opinion that the quality of players admitted to some of these halls has diminished in recent years.

Too many entrants and some questionable entrants elected.

If we are to err, I prefer to do it on the side of recognition, rather than exclusion. The Hall didn't lose its reputation because Harold Baines made it.
