Yes, that helped Wallace get attention, but he had also almost gone pro as a junior and was a second team All-America his senior year, so it's not like making a run was the ONLY thing that got him noticed. EDIT: Nostalgia for Wallace almost going pro. I'm pretty sure I saw him and JB at the start of their conversation about him deciding to return to SU. I was at the SU basketball camp, and we were at our mid-day lecture thing where they brought in a guest speaker to teach us about hoops, and I look over at the big door near the entrance to the locker rooms, and there's John Wallace, casually leaning against that big garage door. He looked so freaking tall, by the way. Anyway, Boeheim sees him, stands up, and moseys on over to have a chat. About 30 seconds after he gets over and starts to talk to him, they head back to the locker room. I believe it was the very next day that Wallace announced he would be coming back to SU, if I'm remembering correctly.

It was awesome. Out of all the things that happened that week, my only time at that camp (honestly, I didn't really like it - I preferred smaller camps where you get a lot more one on one coaching), that was the thing that stuck out the most for me. That, and the fact that we weren't allowed to go down to the Dome after hours to watch the players play pickup against the camp counselors. That was annoying.
