I'm not sure anyone projected him having this type of a breakout.  The first six games, he was buried on the bench, playing single digit minutes as a 5th guard.  For those that haven't watched, GMac has played basically a three guard lineup, with the original starters being Jackson, Freeman and Ducharme.  Sholtes was the 1st guard off the bench and Doty basically played scrub minutes.

Then, as Siena struggled, Sholtes replaced Ducharme in the lineup and Doty moved up in the pecking order as 1st guard off the bench.   Abd then, of course, Jackson got injured seven games ago, and Doty's game really blossomed as he moved into the starting lineup.

So, I guess it could be possible,  if Ducharme never struggled and Jackson never got injured, that Doty would still be averaging single digit minutes.  But, he's really taken advantage of the opportunity and opened up a lot of eyes of people from all over.
