Quick and dirty
Take offensive yards per play rank, defensive yards per play rank, turnover margin rank, and strength of schedule rank, average those, rank that average
The only thing i did weird was make SOS half the weight of the others. Just seemed like it shouldn't be as big a weight as the other stuff.
We come out at #98
Fancy top secret mumbo jumbo bill connelly ranking has us at 78.
Going just by yards per play, we'd be 116th. but turnovers and strength of schedule bring us up.
98th out of 128 works out to a 3-9 record (12 x 98/128 = 9 losses).
top 10 teams my way are
Oklahoma
Mississippi
Clemson
Ohio State
Florida State
Alabama
UCLA
LSU
Notre Dame
Baylor
Ole Miss at #2 is a big red flag but they are great in yards per play. LSU and UCLA are weird too. LSU and UCLA is good in everything overall but 3 losses is 3 losses.
Connelly's has Ole Miss and Michigan in his top 10 too which doesn't sound right and he has LSU and UCLA in the 10-20 range.
