Will we SU basketball fans ever get one going? Either at a bar or man up and tailgate outside this winter?

I used to put them together all the time. We had basketball "tailgates" before we had football tailgates. Had them in a large private room at the Sheraton. Funny coincidence. When I was at Sheraton last week, the food and beverage manager asked me when we were going to have another tailgate. Might be nice to do one for a 4 pm Saturday game -- maybe Louisville

IMO, the Backcourt could be a convenient place to "tailgate" if they opened up the Dome earlier and offered some attractive food and drink specials, i.e. 1/2 off beer up until 1 hour before game time.

Hell, I'd tailgate with the darn Burger King there!

That might be a good idea. I doubt we could arrange a party with our own "specials," but we could surely occupy an area that we designate in advance. Especially if we all got there as soon as the Dome opened 90 minutes before tip off. And then could return there at half time.

I'd definitely be down for that

I never got to partake in a board tailgate, but I remember going back after I graduated for the Notre Dame game when we broke the attendance record and my buddies and I stayed at the Sheraton, and prior to the game I walked off the elevator and past a woman wearing a name tag, and it wasn't until about 10 seconds later I realized it had said "cto" on it.

That's a great idea, actually. An SU-sponsored tailgate in the dome.

roflcopter. Can't tell if serious or joking...

Seems like a no-brainer to me. I don't understand why they haven't done it yet.

I'm sold on the drink specials, though. I'd much, much rather pre-game inside the dome than at Faegan's or Harry's, but won't do it for Bud Light at $6 a can. I say you open up the backcourt concession areas 3 hours before tipoff with 1/2 price drinks and food. Last call for the special deals is 1 hour before the tip.

I'm dead serious. I would have gone back to introduce myself, but my friends and I had already been pregaming and I was afraid that might have made a poor impression.

I'd be down to get some syracusefan brothers together before the Florida game even for a drink or two at a bar or something.

I think we did wear name tags at some of the early things -- just to know who each other was. Also, they served to keep crashers (who were looking for a free drink) out of the party.

Yes, we did wear name tags @ the Sheraton, with our handles on them. Which was great at the party but sure got us weird looks at the bar, in the lobby, etc. "Um so, is your name really JoeCollege?" "Why does your tag say "SUgotothehoop44" type stuff. But they were a good time. CTO took the lead on most of the early tailgates, for both sports, which was great. Fine Mess evolved on the football side (Thanks to Texan Mark and many others) I'd guess hoops is just more difficult to arrange due to weather, weeknight games, etc.

But the Sheraton days were great fun!
