Are you going to take your dog sleds to get to C'ville this weekend? Apparently the only difference in the US and European computer models is whether C'ville will get a real lot or a whole lot of snow.

The forecast for the weekend is ridiculous on the East Coast. The team better leave early or they might have to move the game to another day.

Do you guys even own plows down there?

Syracuse fans should bring their snow blowers down with them and let locals use them while their attending the game and festivities. NOTE: Please tell them not to use their hand to clear out clogged up chutes.

Actually, they don't.

The solution generally is contractors driving dump trucks with plows rigged up on the front of them. Great for a couple of inches.

The average resident of Virginia has never seen big, dedicated-purpose plows and snow blowers like they have all through Upstate NY.

If they get 12 inches or more everything will be shut down.

I'm heading to the liquor store and grocery to get the essentials today. By Friday there won't be a jug of milk or a roll of toilet tissue in any store.

Snow storms that CNY'ers would hardly notice put the whole area --- especially the City of DC --- into a panic.

The ensuing panic, is a boon to many retailers beyond the grocery stores.

After one snow storm a number of years ago, a Ford Dealer from Rockville, MD told me that they had sold every 4 wheel Drive Explorer they had (Over 100 of them) over the weekend at List Price plus a Premium. Every Land Rover and Range Rover had been sold also at List Price.

In a few days the roads were clear. The temp was in the 40's or 50's and those SUV's were never put in 4WD again.

People here freak out about snow at about the same level that CNY'er would freak out about DC traffic.

As a DC resident I concur with those statements. I will see you at the supermarket Townie!

BTW, I have a friend who is one of those contractors making money off the snow storms. He owns a landscaping business, but in the past 4-5 years, minus this one, has made a ton of money plowing.

Here, if worried about traffic, we just leave the game at the start of the last 10 minutes of play.:bat:
Easy solution

As Townie says, it is impossible to overestimate the amount of panic that will grip the Baltimore-Washington area when snow is in the forecast.

If we could get the game to be moved outdoors, that would be a real advantage for us.

except of course the football team, they would know What to do with themselves.

Townie only shops at organic farmer's markets and really barters rather than buys.

Hope our guys get to C-Ville on Thursday.

"OMG, there was construction on 690 and my commute from Syracuse to Liverpool that usually takes 13 minutes took 18 minutes!"

I live in NYC. People are talking like the end of the world is coming Friday night. I imagine it's similar to the DMV area right now. I had to look up what they were talking about...oh a whopping 5-8 inches is possible. Time to batten down the hatches folks.

Since I see very few Truck Garden farms here, I often wonder where the farm markets get that produce.

There will be two problems with the Orange in Charlottesville. Getting there and getting out.

One of the first years I lived down here, I was super-amped to see SU play Gtn at the USAir Arena on a Saturday. When I got there, the place was closed because the game was cancelled because of a couple of inches of snow,

What channel is the UVA/Clemson game on tonight? I can't find it. Thanks.

ESPN3 another fine ACC Network production.

By the way it looks like it is subject to blackout in a sliver of New York running from Boonville to maybe Oneonta, what is that about?

Could be on an over-the-air station (usually one of the UHF stations) in that area. The other game being broadcast on the network is NC State-Ga Tech.

It must be the other C-ville; Constableville, where everyone will be out playing in the snow!

I think it is highly possible the game will be canceled. I hope it's not, but . . .

I am heading to Florida on Thursday, due to return through Philly on Sunday. I know right now that is NEVER going to happen. I might have to stay on - and on - and on. (Just so long as I'm back in Syracuse for the Notre Dame game!)

surprised they haven't closed the subways already. It will be another chance for Cuomo and DeBlasio to outdouche one another

Wish I could take in Charlottesville. I just have no time to travel. Last year, or the year before, lacrosse and basketball played down there on the same weekend. That would have been the perfect road trip.

Charlottesville, the Skyline Drive, Shenandoah Valley is as pretty a place as there is anywhere. Even with 3 feet of snow.
