I'm heading to the liquor store and grocery to get the essentials today. By Friday there won't be a jug of milk or a roll of toilet tissue in any store.

Snow storms that  CNY'ers would hardly notice put the whole area --- especially the City of DC --- into a panic.

The ensuing panic, is a boon to many retailers beyond the grocery stores.

After one snow storm a number of years ago, a Ford Dealer from Rockville, MD told me that they had sold every 4 wheel Drive Explorer they had (Over 100 of them) over the weekend at List Price plus a Premium. Every Land Rover and Range Rover had been sold also at List Price.

In a few days the roads were clear. The temp was in the 40's or 50's and those SUV's were never put in 4WD again.

People here freak out about snow at about the same level that CNY'er would freak out about DC traffic.
