Ratings by quadrant, no i mean quintant (thank you google)
own 1-20: 90
20-40: 125
40-40: 57
40-20: 163
20-1: 174

for Allen

own 1-20: 135
20-40: 107
40-40: 58
40-20: 123
20-1: 158

I get why the numbers look better the closer you get to the endzone, it means you're moving the ball or dominating a worse team. but I can't figure out why the numbers drop off a cliff at midfield.

maybe it's still just a fluke and you can't recover from all those Ints (you're not getting many TD from midfield) but it's still pretty remarkable. I don't think it means all that much, but it's just really strange that we're so-so before our own 40 and then horrendous at the 40

We're dead last in the country passing between the 40s and it's not even close.

57 rating is so much worse than the worst from every year from 2007 to 2012. last place from prior years just blows this year's SU number out of the water. (I don't have numbers for before 2007)

dead last qb rating between the 40s

2012: So Miss rating 86, 0 wins
2011: Miss rating 73 , 2 wins
2010: Akron rating 72 , 1 win
2009: NM State rating 78 , 3 wins
2008: Wyoming rating 71 , 4 wins
2007: UCLA rating 82 , 6 wins

we're witnessing the pinnacle of chicken salad making

Sorry to keep replying to myself.

Bright side , we're 25th between the other team's 20 and 40

We're 55th in the red zone.

So clearly we need to punt when we hit our 40 and take delays of game penalties in the red zone.

I wonder if its a function of play calling.. we are very careful what we call in either end of the field.. when we try to open it up a bit in the middle we make mistakes. nothing shows QB issues more than the fact we cant throw where throwing should be the easiest..

that's as good a guess as any. I thought at first before checking that maybe it was just Allen happening to throw all his Ints there but Hunt has the same drop off, Hunt's rating there is just as bad as allens

i wonder if the coaches know about this. gotta imagine that if they saw these numbers they'd hit the tape and reevaluate the plays they call. Maybe McDonald is dying inside and can't help himself opening it up at midfield

36-83 (43%), 312 yards, 1 TD, 9 INT

we threw an INT on a slant last week around mid field.. do we ever call that play any where else? seems like we stop throwing the safe bubble stuff and try to run more aggressive/play action calls.

i think this is right. hunt isn't accurate enough and the receivers aren't sharp enough. stick to the bizarro chip theory offense (throw to the sidelines just enough to open up the running game)

FSU will have 7 pick 6s this week jumping the screens but whatever, that's 7tds their offense won't get so there

I think the coaches will be happy just running 3 times up the middle, hope a couple break and punt.. Wake tried to be aggressive and got killed because of it.. i guess its a story of do you play for a smaller loss or roll the dice and try to have a shot. everyone is getting killed by FSU so what is the harm in trying to win. Maybe they make 2-3 mistakes like the BC Game. no one has played the D like we usually try. the reality is that the D against Clemson was not bad except for a couple of communcation issues early. Make FSU beat you with talent not with blown coverages and take our chances.

clemson was disappointing because they made it too easy for tajh boyd, who i don't think is as good as most other people think. I might happen to catch his stinker games and miss his good ones.

It's a function of all the interceptions and low TD's this year. That is skewing pedestrian to ridiculuous.

i think upperdecker might be on to something with more slants at midfield leading to more ints
