One of yesterdays game commentators (it may have been Len Elmore) mentioned -- but only in passing -- that sometimes it seemed as if K State was playing against six players, but he didn't elaborate. That's the point that many so-called knowledgeable critics miss when evaluating the Orange. The Zone is designed to put one man on the ball and a second one slides in when the ball moves. When the ball goes into the corner, there are two men on the ball plus the sideline, which could be considered to be a "seventh man." What's not to like about a scheme that gives you virtual numerical odds on every play? But you won't hear that praise from anyone except perhaps Coach Knight. Instead, we get a constant analysis of "here's what it takes to beat the Zone." I'm sick of that -rap.-VBOF
