The Big Ten in taking Maryland and Rutgers has significantly watered down its football reputation, as well as dropped its league average attendance. That pair is not going to be hosting Penn St every week.

UConn provides nothing the Big Ten needs. It already has east coast presence to maximize payments for the BTN. The BT leads the nation in average attendance for basketball, and if it becomes even half east coast based, it likely loses its hold over midwest basketball fans.

Delany is an ego monster, and he might be crazy enough to make a wild move to try to hit at Swofford and the ACC. But if he is smart, and he can persuade the BT schools to go to 15, the wisest choice is clearly Kansas. KU is a much older hoops name than UConn, and it has a much more positive national reputation and drawing power. More important, KU would mean the Kansa City TV market, and the BT needs that market (well, half of it) to put a stop sign on the SEC. That and KU's long history with Nebraska in all sports would be the perfect choice to make the western half of the BT happy.

And adding KU would open the door to the possibility of later adding OU, which is something that BT football must have in order to ever hope to look the SEC in the eye again.
