I was looking at the snap counts from Miami and thought it interesting that all five starters on the offensive line played all 94 offensive plays. They struggled against the Miami front but thought it interesting that all five starters played every offensive down. That has to help create camaraderie in that group. Dungey & Erv also played all 94 plays and butler played 90.

I haven't seen this data before. Is it normal for the starters on the offensive line to play every down?

From the PS Article:

Offense:

QB: Eric Dungey (94)
RB: Dontae Strickland (62), Moe Neal (32), Tyrone Perkins (3)

FB/TE: Ravian Pierce (57), Chris Elmore (18)

OL: LT Cody Conway (94), LG Sam Heckel (94), C Airon Servais (94), RG Evan Adams (94), RT Jamar McGloster (94)

WR: Erv Philips (94), Devin Butler (90), Steve Ishmael (81), Sean Riley (22), Jamal Custis (11)

Defense

DE: Alton Robinson (73), Brandon Berry (66), Ryan Guthrie (13), Kingsley Jonathan (3)

DT: Chris Slayton (55), McKinley Williams (43), Kayton Samuels (25) Kenneth Ruff (19)

LB: Zaire Franklin (77), Parris Bennett (77), Jonathan Thomas (66), Kielan Whitner (7), Austin Valdez (5)

CB: Chris Fredrick (77), Devin Butler (50), Juwan Dowels (28)

S: Evan Foster (77), Rodney Williams (75), Carl Jones (11), Jordan Martin (1), Daivon Ellison (1)

In this offense, I think so. The assumption from writers and announcers seems to be “they rotate a lot of guysto keep fresh because of tempo” - but I think Babers really values the reps for consistency. It also keeps your best players out there vs tired 1’s or less talented 2’s.

System and philosophy is well thought out. What a breathe of fresh air.

I could be wrong but I always thought it was ideal for the OL to take every snap together. But what is a little concerning is how many snaps the starting DEs have to take. Getting Coleman back will be a big help, as well as Black who I assume will take snaps both inside and outside.

Why it’s best to play 5 OL but 8-10 DL, I’m not sure. I just don’t think it’s out of the ordinary if you stay healthy.

once we lost Bradshaw we forced Frederick to play all game and thats hurts the rotation, the Dowels gets dinged and we played 2 DBs most of the game after that.

get Coleman/Black back as coach says even 10 snaps is a big deal.

We really lack that flyer to throw into the WR mix, next Year Butler could see a bunch of snaps but we might also see various guys every series , but once you go tempo you dont see much subbing

oline guys play most snaps for lots of teams unless they have 1-2 guys really close. but it takes trust to rotate oline when the game is on the line..

I think the idea is that OL expend less energy since they know the play versus the DL that have to react to the play and chase the ball.
