The No. 1 team in the nation is playing the No. 1 team from CUSA tonight and no network is showing it live. SNY seems to have the rights to the game, but they have decided not to show it until 3 PM on Friday.

SNY is instead showing the UConn vs Fairfield Stags game live. Did SU not sign a contract with SNY to cover specific games? Can anyone from the media explain how this happens?

UConn has a bigger deal than we do, hence the snub.

Can only imagine what happens when we join the ACC. We'll be an afterthought in the NYC metro area.

We're an afterhtought now.
In the ACC we'll basically be a non-thought in NYC.

UConn is considered a semi-local team.
Syracuse is Syracuse.
"New York's college team"?
Not in NYC...despite all the alumni.
And despite all the fans who show up at the Garden and Rutgers and the Meadowlands and Newark.
(But they're being sold out by the ACC move anyway).

And appro pos of nothing...Gary Apple (an SU alum) pointed out something very interesting on SNY last night. UConn does not play a ranked Big East team the ENTIRE MONTH OF JANUARY!

doesn't mean much, everyone has to play everyone. If not january, they play them in Febuary.

They make up the schedules well in advance for CBB. It's not like football where it's done 1-2 weeks before the game. Going into the season, UCONN-Fairfield was a bigger game, and it arguably still is.

I doubt people would feel real happy if there was a "clause", as someone suggested, that left the SNY to the whim of that week's AP/coach's poll. For every time we'd benefit, we'd probably lose out another time. And the uncertaintly would be maddening.

This is nonsense. First Syracuse is not an afterthought in NYC right now - if we wete SNY wouldn't have ever had any interest in broadcasting games in the first place. But New York follows winners, UConn won the national championship last year - so by the nature of NYC fandom, they'll get a spike from that. If we're a top 5 team and play an annual MSG game to keep an NYC presence, we'll have a big following in NYC.
