So does a game like this restart the rivalry with BC?

weve got two fiery coaches and if we keep playing on "rivalry week" i think fans will get into it. i was surprised by the showing by bc today - fair amount of fans traveled

We beat them in a glorious manner...and did our best to prevent them from getting the heisman.

I hope so. They are a pretentious bunch of s who think their school is much better than it actually is.

It seemed like Shafer and Addazio have a genuine respect for one another. Might be difficult to have a hateful rivalry if that's the case.

Yes, power-bombed some BC fan up in 301. He's safely back fishing for tuna. Also, my buddy made out with his GF.

Just wondering? A nice beginning to one anyway...

It seemed to be a rivalry for the players. It got pretty chippy after nearly every scrum, lots of hard hits, and lots of trashtalking on both sides. Maybe that's a function of this game being do-or-die for the Cuse but I get the sense these guys don't like each other and that has lots to do with the coaches. Two super intense guys who really wanted this one. Clear from Shafer's comments that he's been pumping up this rivalry all week.

They had a seriously long discussion at the end of the game. One of the longest I've ever seen.
I think Addazio is a hothead and kind of crazy but he seems to really appreciate his time at Syracuse.

I'm am one that hopes it does... Never liked them in football and if it's gonna be the last game of year why not embrace it.

It's not.

Just the last of the regular season.

There was a Boston fan in 214 that wouldn't shut up for the first quarter. At one point she went into a rant about how great the city of Boston is and how much Syracuse sucks. What a complete toolbag she was, a typical Boston fan.

Agree 100%. Reason why his son came here for sure

The premise of this question is fundamentally incorrect. Hard to "Re-Start" a rivalry that didn't exist.

BC, an opponent since 1923, has never been a particularly strong rival and the relationship between the two schools never had a lot of heat to it. BC, like Pitt, has always been just another school on the schedule.

Did you catch that he also said a few words to Will hicks? It's rare to see a HC seek out an assistant, especially an S&C assistant.

BC got us a few times before leaving for the ACC. I recall a pretty good rivalry brewing, when we were no longer competitive with Va Tech and Miami toward the end of P's time here. And don't forget Mike Farrell and his influence on recruiting.

BC brought more fans than Yukon, Buttgers, Cincy, USF, or Temple EVER brought. It wasn't a huge group. But they tried to represent.

In their days in he he BE, BC desperately wanted SU to make this the end of year game, to build the rivalry. SU always looked higher than BC, at VT and Miami and WVU. BC fans may finally get their wish.

Depends on your definition of a "rivalry".

I'd say we had a "rivalry" with Georgetown in basketball.

You have the bar set too low, IMHO.

If I was BC, SU would be my big rivalry.

First, SU's Pearl beats ranked BC on a last second shot in 1984.(we were unranked)

Then SU's Diamond Ferri almost single handed beats BC eliminating them from getting the Big East football title in their last year before heading to the ACC.

Then today, we beat them and held their Heisman hopeful to 29 yards on 9 carries before getting hurt.

Yup if I were BC I'd consider us a huge rival . The real question is if we would ever consider BC as a true rival since when the stakes were high, we historically prevail. Sounds cocky but I don't mean it to be - just the way it seems to have been.
