He seems like a nice pickup, someone who would be a good 2nd or 3rd option on a strong team.  But given all the yammering we’ve heard about all the money we got when Gerry was hired, I expected more.  Like maybe a proven P5 scorer, or at least someone generally regarded as a top 30-40 portal guy.  (Yeah, I put some stock in rankings.  You notice I didn’t criticize us being ranked 9 right now, simply pointed out we’re unlikely to be anywhere near that after the big dogs eat.)

Now I know there are a lot of guys left in the portal, and a long time until the start of fall semester, so maybe we will still make a major splash.  If so, I’ll feel a lot better about Tobiason.  But even tho we have a lot of roster room either there isn’t much available pt, or the guys we’ve signed aren’t as good as people here think.  I saw a post on another thread (one I also didn’t comment on) saying what we’re done so far is about what we would have expected with Red, and I agree.  Unless we are somehow able to sign a serious stud at center, I don’t think we will even finish in the top half of the ACC, let alone the NCAAT.
