Brian Schottenheimer as their OC. left St. Louis Rams after three seasons to go to a college team?! Why? How can we ever expect to compete with the big boys with this kind of crap? Were screwed.
He spent a season here in the 90's as a wide receiver coach.

One of two things, the writing was one the wall for shottenheimer at St. Louis or he thinks going to Georgia as the OC gets him closer to being a HC albeit at the college level most likely and maybe he's ok with that. Will be interesting

Pffft. They can have him. If I were Georgia, I wouldn't be overjoyed

Where's the guy who got fired? That's who we should be worrying about.

It was Bobo who went to Colorado St to be HC.

I agree with Millhouse, Schottenheimer's been terrible. Runs overly complicated offense. Will be interesting to see if he can just have the QB hand off to Chubb.

He already did his tour at Syracuse.

My experience with Schottenheimers as coaches is that they do not get better with age.

We're not competing with Georgia in the near future because right now we're not even competing with our peers (NC State, GTech, BC, Pitt, Ped St., RU, MD, Duke) and that worries me even more.

Lsu did this a couple years ago when they brought cam Cameron in as oc (though he had been a college head coach previously). Clearly, their awful showing this year shows it doesn't necessarily translate!

It may not translate 100% of the time, but it sure underscores the fact that other programs can and will pay for high level, proven assistants, and SU will not. I know for a fact that Marrone lost his faith when he asked for raises for his staff after the first bowl win and was told "no." Can't win consistently, and certainly cannot recruit at a high level without high quality proven game-coach assistants--fundamental building block of all good programs, and we just don't have that level of consistency in our program right now. It's concerning.
