If this is Boeheim's last year, let's announce it a few days before Senior Night. Try to announce a new hire by April, and then hopefully a fresh-blood coach may persuade some of our guys to return, and avoid burning it all down to the ground next year.

Maybe if it's quickly known that Boeheim is not returning, we can get the jump on a replacement and have someone noteworthy, a quality hire, in place before the portal opens at the end of the semester in May.

I think there are definite "pro's" to tearing the band-aid off quickly, and getting it out there. It will accelerate our recovery as a program.

Is there anyone who is irreplaceable on this roster?

Too logical. SU will f it up letting JB announce his retirement in August.

Probably not. But I would be happier for the next coach if we had Judah, Benny and Maliq. That's the first tier of talent.

Next, I would be happy for any of these guys to stay: Justin Taylor, Mounir Hima, Peter Carey, Quadir Copeland.

JBA can grad transfer. He should get to play somewhere before he's done with college.

I think Chris Bell has potential, but only as a bench player; your 3 point specialist at F who is the third guy in the rotation. That's kind of the rotation spot for Taylor, too; as your 3rd or 4th guard / 2nd shooting guard.

Hima is an adequate defensive back-up at center. We need a starter.
Peter Carey deserves to see if he can contribute or not next season. If he can, great, or else ship him out to a smaller school where he can play.

If we keep 6 or 7 of those guys, who have all played a season together now, we will be a better team for it next year.

We need 3 or 4 serious, starter caliber guys, from the portal. Guys who have started and been successful at G-5 schools, and have the measurables to give us a more balanced, more physically prepared, tougher roster.

That's the whole point of starting this thread, to say "let's tear off the band-aid"; we can get better more quickly if we do. There is literally zero reason to allow Boeheim to coach a 20 loss team next year. What is the point?
