- Boeheim traveled less due to the sanctions.  He also spent time with team USA basketball, but so did K and K still got plenty of talent to commit.

- Hop and Murphy bounced.  Our recruiters aren’t as good as Hop was.  They’re probably not as good with the X’s and O’s either

- Went all in on some recruits who left us holding the bag.  Had some bad luck with injuries.  High profile guys committed then decommitted.

- Guys typically not considered Syracuse caliber all of a sudden had to play 35 minutes per game because even when the staff tried to get depth, nobody wanted to come.

- Poor talent evaluation for some recruits, especially at guard.

- Reliance on transfers as the staff tried to fill holes.  Easy to find capable scorers.  Hard to find committed defensive players who could pick up the zone quickly.

- Without strong Centers to hold down the inside of the zone, everybody has to collapse to help, which leaves shooters open.  The zone can’t be aggressive without a good Center, more so than any other position.  So our defense is as bad as our Centers.  We end up either playing Wisconsin ball and hoping the other team makes more mistakes than us in limited possessions or we end up in a shootout, usually at a talent disadvantage.
