since we now officially beat Penn State in Happy Valley since their win has been forfeit.

Also, we didn't get trashed in the Dome in 2008 during the GRob farewell tour... according to the record books.

Curious what these final scores will be changed to reflect? 2-0 perhaps?

That's not how vacating wins works. They no longer won the game, but they didn't lose it either. There seems to be some disagreement as to how it affects our record though. Some sources would say we no longer "lost," others would say we still lost the game. I've always gone with the latter, and that's backed up by sites like College Football Data Warehouse. Nobody would say we gain a win though. What you're thinking of is a "forfeit." Penn State is not being forced to retroactively forfeit those games, they're just vacating the wins.

Does that mean the team was still 4-8 that season or now 4-7? I know we don't pick up a win, but do we drop a loss?

There's some disagreement on that, but I'm 90% sure our record remains unchanged. Not only do we not pick up a win, but the loss stays on the record too.

It doesn't seem right that we don't drop a loss. If PSU doesn't get the win, the loss should be vacated too. Otherwise, it will cause some imbalance in the universe that will have to be made up some other way because you can't have a loser without a winner.

I'm only halfway serious here - and maybe that's overstating my seriousness.

I kind of know what you mean. The NHL point system really bugs me. It doesn't seem right that some games award more total points (combined) to the two teams than other games.

Re: NHL--

I think they ought to amend their scoring system. 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an OT win, 1 for an OT loss, 0 for a regulation win. 3 points available for every game.
