ESPN stats on Melo playing...didnt think he had this type of impact on the team..but it looks like he may be the MVP of the team:

...you can't help but think Melo is absolutely crucial to this team's national title chances. And then our fine friends at ESPN Stats & Information send along the following statistics, and you see the facts in all their glory: With Melo, the Cuse is 21-0 and averages 38.9 points per game in the paint (28.7 without him), 14 second-chance ppg (6.3 without), 1.18 points per possession (1.00 without) and has an offensive rebound percentage of 39.5 (25.5 without).

Great minds think alike... I was just thinking the same thing... I mean about Fab being our most valuable player. I can't recall any Syracuse player making this big a jump... and the scary thing is that he's going to get a lot better, Just wish we could keep him another year but it is very unlikely IMO.

Fab is what the military calls a "force multiplier." You can't gauge his importance on just his individual stats alone. He's a catalyst for many of the strengths of this team. Getting him back was like getting a big gulp of air after being trapped under water.

While it's probably true, comparing the 21 games that Fab played in to the 3 games that he missed really shouldn't be done. Massively disproportionate sample sizes.

Bacially he means about 10 extra points a game to us. And that's on offense.

Is this really surprising to anyone?

BREAKING: It's a better day when you don't get kicked in the balls.

Steve, what are the stats on his impact in-game. I couldn't help but notice how much more St. John's was able to do when he was on the bench.

This is what I hate when people dismiss the AO injury in 2010. They point out he only averaged blah blah numbers and that wouldn't have an impact. But they can't wrap their mind around that not only does losing your starting center decrease the production from his position, but also the others around him.

In conclusion I hate people and I really come off like a bitter smart ass on this site.
