Interesting that it took this long to make Rak, Fab's backup...

Don't know how JB will sub, but Rak was great in his minutes today. He's going to be a player for us.

Thought both freshman were really good today. Esp Rak. He was all over the place on the boards, blocking Drummond and threw down a nice dunk. Him and Southerland will be huge the rest of the week and next weekend.

Rak was great but it seemed CJ was off a bit. I like the move though.

If Noel picks SU then Baye will not play much if at all next year.

I think that Keita's flaws have been pretty obvious this year. He has no hands, no offense, and not a great rebounder. He plays with energy and is a great team player but if Rak is playing with intensity and focus, it is a no brainer who will back up Fab going forward.

Hopefully this wasn't a testing issue.

I'm ok with that. Kid needs some weight room time and confidence in his hands. He runs like a gazelle but gets moved off the block with ease.

IMHO Keita might be a good practice player, but he struggles in games.

agreed.. and with Keita.. you know your going to get hustle and a guy who is a team player. If Rak stinks it up.. you have Keita.. KONG was that type of player. You wouldn't see him for 3 games and then all the sudden.. he comes up big hustling his butt off. BMK is that guy IMO. Rak's talent and athleticism make him ideal for backing up the five. He also gives you a guy who has quick leaping ability thats needed in the tourney.

So where are the posters who predicted with certainty that JB would go to a 7-man rotation during the playoffs?

Keita's key role over the next two years will be ensuring he graduates in four years.

What I love about Rak is that when he goes for a rebound he GRABS it and you know no one is going to tip it away from him. None of this volleyball garbage.

We havent gotten to the playoffs yet...this is a free-look period for JB...

It was rumored that Rak gave up his starting spot at the 4 for more minutes as the backup 5.

It was a difficult decision for Rak because he is undersized for an NBA center and will not be able to play in the league there. He wants the experience at the 4 but has not currently produced enough to warrant big minutes.

Another factor in Raks decision was Noel. It's looking more and more likely that Noel is coming to the 'Cuse. If Rak wants decent minutes next year he will have to be amenable to playing the 5. The 4 experience will have to wait. This is good news.

Great observation. You may be right!

Source? LOL.

Spot on. And he's the only big on Syracuse who does that. He's hugely valuable.

I person can hope. Rak appears to be able to be a pretty good 5 at the college level. Better than BMK now.

If he gets this tourney to show what he's got, looks like the backup 5 would be his for the NCAAT. And with a run there he'll get several more games. This will give him a pretty good lead over DC2 for the start next year. There would be enough minutes for Rak, DC2, and Noel to parse out at the 4/5 spots.

I have a difficult time imagining that JB will abandon the approach he used successfully all season of playing the best combination from among 10 players, based on what the situation dictates and how guys are performing on a given night. IMO, the only 2 players assured of getting their minutes are Joseph and Melo. There may end up being 7 guys who get the bulk of the minutes, but the distribution will be a different every night.

I think alot of people forget that Baye is a true Soph. If Noel comes in next year, Baye can redshirt and still get better.
