I know there is a separate Marlowe Wax appreciation thread, but I am so impressed with the overall group of LBs we have. Seemed like everyone made big plays and were flying to the ball.
  • Wax is playing like an All- American.
  • McDonald is a big guy, flies around, and looks like he could be a pro.
  • Sparrow really started imposing his will in the second half.
  • Leon Lowery really popped especially in the first half.
  • Stefon Thompson looks like he is starting to round into form.

We have had a lot of good LBs since I started watching Cuse as a frosh in 1989 - Conley, Glen Young, Bulluck, Nate Helmlsey (an all time fav of mine), Zaire, Spruill, Mikell, Cam Lynch, Jameel McClain, Clifton Smith, Morlon Greenwood, Antwuane Ponds, Terry Wooden, Kevin Mitchell (sort of).

EDIT: Left off a few more - Doug Hogue, Derrell Smith, Jameel Dumas, David Bavarro.

But this may be the deepest (and perhaps the most athletic) group I remember.

Went down the rabbit hole on sports-reference.com because it was hard to remember who played with whom in which year to see best collection of LBs we've had since 1989:

1997: Bulluck, Greenwood, Ponds (3 NFL players)
1999: Bulluck, Greenwood, Clifton Smith (who had a few cups of coffee in the NFL IIRC)

This group seems like they could be every bit their equal. The run-stopping was amazing last night.

McDonald’s last DE experience from HS shows. He was a MONSTER. First game of his career where mid way through the game I said “holy sh** this kid looks like a pro player.” I am VERY high on him. Wax is a straight PRO. He will be drafted. Phenomenal group

Several times McDonald looked like he got shot out of a cannon, he was into the backfield so quickly.

Big, fast, and has very bad intentions.

Loving the depth we have here, the other guys all making plays too.

I’d even say that I’d feel comfortable with the 3rd string LB’s also.
Here’s hoping they stick around so they can grow into their positions, since we seem to have some talent waiting in the wings.

And McDonald is a true Sophomore? Can't remember if he redshirted his first year.
