from Syracuse.com "About two weeks ago, Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf officially ended his college career by signing with agent Chris Grier Luchey of CGL Sports. Devendorf is graduating from SU this month, but he earned a fifth year of eligibility after tearing his ACL during the 2007-08 season."

who was it that caused us to lose 2 scholies?

I try to keep up but Bees, Jake, Cto etc are in a different pay bracket when it comes to 1st or 2nd hand knowledge. I am more on the 14th or 15th hand and I am totally envious. Regardless I always assumed 8 Mile graduated...you know what assume does though

Flynn and Harris

and probably devo too. people forget that it is a 4 year average of individual term scores. there were many terms where i am sure devo hurt us at that time and had to do work over the summer to maintain eligibility. granted it was early in his career.

Devo was a S/A of the week. Have to have a 3.0 or better that semester. Was told by an SU AD employee I know that the kid was close to 3.0 as a soph. (she was really pissed about the rumors of him flunking out).

"Is graduating" doesn't mean he ended up doing so. They say that about every fourth-year player.

As of right now, Fab Melo is graduating in May 2014.

That part is true. I think he was on the dean's list during at least one of his redshirt semesters.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking too. Our score was 865 in 2009, I don't think just Flynn and Paul could have been the reason for that. Maybe there was someone else though; entirely possible.

Plus I tend to see the possibility of 4 open scholies (3 if NN decides to go Orange) to be distributed to walk ons. That can only help the APR...just saying stay positive people it's March 26th. Nothing any of us can do until we know for sure. Speculation will drive us all nutso and blind us from the simple fact that this team put on a tremendous show for us for the last six months and did their best to bury all the off the court nonsense we have gone through. Only 1 of 300 teams ends the season truly happy each year. Everyone else is left disappointed. These young men brought smiles to all our faces 32 of the 35 times they played and should be remembered as doing so...not APRs, suspensions, leaving early, etc.

Sean williams?

Is that true? I thought it was done every year, but the total score was averaged, not the rolling score of each student. So if Eric was say not in good standing in 2008, that wouldn't affect his 2009 score.

I know for a fact that he did not graduate

yea i remember people saying devo would graduate then when he didn't, it made some news here. i for one was disappointed when i heard it. however, i am curious where all this apr talk is coming from. i dont see us any different than a lot of other schools out there.

Could it have been two additional somebodies?

That was for a semester. Believe me, he had academic issues here. Rooming with AO helped him a lot. But success 1 semester doesn't mean another wasn't an issue.

it is an average. each term is scored then averaged with other terms. so being bad one term will lower the teams overall average.

Yeah, I misunderstood what you said. Agree with this.

am i clear that the program is better off if one goes pro after 1 or 2 years than if they stay around for 4 years, yet has a hard time graduating??

I guess the answer would be yes, if the kid is in good academic standing the first few years, then struggles later on.

But I don't think you need to graduate in 4 years to be in good standing. I believe it was noted here that Wes didn't graduate in 2010, yet our score for that year was perfect.
