[*]TGD has a good record hiring coaches and the GRob choice, while so unfortunate, was not exactly a turrible one on the surface. Hard to know how a coordinator will handle HC responsibilities. Alos, it is unfari to not give him credit for the ones he got right. There were many that wanted Hackett or someone else.
[*]Not knocking DM but it is sometimes easier to fix a program that is broken and way down than it might be to continue a program that simply lost its coach to another job. 
[*]Shafer IMO does not get as much credit as he deserves for the part he played in turning around the program. It is simply a fact that the defense improved much more than the offense or ST ever did. Without the job Shafer did DM would almost certainly have had a losing record. Granted that DM hires Shafer and I give him credit for it but that does not lessen the contribution that Shafer made.
[*]Shafer has been just as much, if not more, conservative in play calling than Doug. Until we put a high powered scoring offense on the filed that is the way it will be - they have no other choice.

I think Shafer will take us to the next level because he is a very smart coach, is learning the HC job very quickly and is creating a culture to which he can recruit. He is a good man and is going to be a very good college HC.
