To explain why he benched Cooney for nearly 10 minutes for the first time in forever, but then suddenly felt like bringing Cooney back in with 6 seconds left was better than going with what had brought him to the situation in the first place.

I can get that he thought he might need a 3 but he had a dead ball to change the lineup back.

I'm guessing that shooters gotta shoot? He plays good defense?

"We needed shooters in there. Nothing more to say." Boeheim is not one for careful retrospection in the pressers. I'm not sure that kind of thinking is a great strength of his generally.

it's because cooney is a better 'shooter' than howard. no matter that howard could've taken it straight to the tin for a higher percentage layup.

Well, here we go.

"I should have brought Trevor in for Frank when we tied it up and put the ball in Mike's hands."

Pound salt Jim. Don't blame a Freshman for your crap.

I didn't take his comment that way at all. With the game on the line, with the pressure of a big stage, you want your senior on the floor with the ball in his hands. JB was effusive of his praise for Howard later in the PC.
