[QUOTE="Cuseregular, post: 1483593, member: 185"] give the nature of that criminally viscous hit (that's how I'm going to refer to it), it's a miracle that the question you pose can be a possibility. Given how he looked post game (great), given he was cleared not only on the field to walk off but checked out and cleared at the hospital with xrays, etc they can now observe him for a few days this to be sure no other potentially serious issues emerge. Now luckily and amazingly, It is a possible outcome that a day later this may be more of a neck sprain issue vs. head based on how the injury occurred with luckily the idiot not using the crown of his helmet and how the face mask slid off instead of driving through dungys helmet. There was obviously head trauma based on how he tried to get up and fell needing help, but with his neck and back snapping back like it did the back helped to absorb and disperse some of the forces which is key. The anatomy of the neck allows for this traumatic motion more so than if it went in the other direction in forward flexion where serious injury is more likely since when flexed all the force is directed down into the tissues there. It is still possible for serious injury but less likely when forced back into hyper extension vs. a hyperextension forward flexion type injury. If nothing else new develops in the next few days and it's not a diagnosed severe concussion (at this point a day later meaning he passes all the diagnostics this week including concussion protocol testing/evaluations) and it is more the neck as mentioned then there's actually a chance he plays this weekend, though if I'm his treating dr. I'd advise against it. But the good news is there's some hope at this point that he dodges a bullet most importantly with respect to no severe concussion or anything further more serious and if so then we may get to see him lead a historic upset of LSU.:p Edit: the above was edited following seeing more video today with ED falling down on initially trying to get up which I wasn't aware of with the OP above.
