I guess I don't understand why this isn't a three? He jumps beyond the three point line and never comes down before releasing the shot. How is this any different from GMac's running three against Cincy in the BET? Is it because he releases it so far inside the three point line?

Looks like it should have been a 3 to me.

Agreed. It was a 3.

He jumped from behind the 3 point line, and released the shot before landing on the court again.

That entire paly was nice -- from the quick turn off the rebound on

Well, since that's resolved, I have a hypothetical. 7'0" future dude has a 60 inch vertical, takes off from behind the 3 point line and dunks it.

3 pointer because of where he took off from?

2 pointer because he touched part of the basket (rim) before the ball went through?

Create a new rule so that a play like this results in an insta-win (like the Snitch thing in Harry Potter)?

Catching the snitch isn't an automatic win. You get 150 points for catching it. Catching the snitch ends the match. But if your team was losing 160 to 0 and caught the snitch. It would end the match and your team would lose 160 to 150

From the back angle it looked like he jumped on the 2-point side of the line. In the side angle it looked like his foot touched before the ball was released. Either way, it's a pure judgment call. Maybe that player was moaning and groaning over the referee calls and human nature kicked in. I don't have a problem with the call. Something like that the refs are not going to get it perfect. Every basketball game I've ever been apart of in any way the losing team thinks the referees made bad calls. Every single game.

This is the best sour grape comments on a refereeing I've ever seen:

UNC-Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach say, without a trace of his trademark self-deprecating humor or sarcasm, “Syracuse is better than Asheville. Tonight, we were better than Syracuse.”

Or even to hear Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim answer a question, directed toward his players, about Biedenbach’s remark by saying, “That’s why they make scoreboards."

JB's comments to Biedenbach may be up there with the greatest things JB has ever said post-game interview. God that's funny!

I don't think you are worthy of the Jessica Alba avatar.
