This has become kind of a weird sub plot to me.
Last season our defense arguably fell apart because we wore down our starting linebackers, at least in part. They played almost every snap, every game.
So far this season, in two romps, the backup linebackers were the last unit on defense to see snaps, and even at that haven't seen a whole lot of game action. Even though Babers in the preseason said they need to do a better job of spreading snaps around the linebackers to keep them fresh through 12 games.
What gives? I have a hard time believing that Guthrie, Whitner and Armstrong have separated themselves so much from the rest of the LB group, because, well... they just aren't that impressive. Does the LB coach just not like going to his bench?
I'm having a hard time making sense of what I'm seeing.
