Talked to Mark Hayes of Orange United at a small (for us) tailgate prior to the men’s soccer game. They are emphasizing Olympic sports and working with the coaches to try to get some traction in the donor base. We were joined by a soccer alumni group and between a 50-50 and a donation box we raised $830 for men’s soccer NIL. Syracuse is not very competitive with peer schools in this area and really needs an NIL infusion to level the recruiting playing field….

Syracuse is not very competitive with peer schools in this area and really needs an NIL infusion to level the recruiting playing field….

To me this is why it’s so difficult to see how things shake out over the long term. You have so many mouths to feed NIL wise across a wide range of sports and just one university community to get it done ( which of course we are spread out and have alums and support everywhere but still).
