[QUOTE="HoustonCuse, post: 1967256, member: 87"] CuseRaised, thanks for the response. You definitely make some good points, and some that I think many Syracuse fans would agree with. Particularly about the way Boeheim tends to berate players during games and then press conferences. But one way to look at that is that he's been doing this for 40 years and he's been pretty doggone successful at developing a lot of guys. That's his style and that's the kind of old-school style a lot of coaches from his era. The press conference stuff I have no defense for. I think that's horrible and I think that really could hurt us in recruiting because just why, ya know? On the other hand, the stuff about what amounts to personnel management of players is difficult for me. In my day job I manage a moderately large organization and I know that there are just so many different scenarios and so many different situations and really only one or two people know the full story on most of those. So I'm not going to be willing to throw any coaches under the bus for doing things like "running players out." There are many no win situations and many win-win situations that outside observers could interpret as something very different. And I don't have a media and message board devoted to dissecting every move! It is just a fact that sports is a performance based business. If you're not as good is everyone thought you were going to be it probably doesn't serve you or the team that recruited you for you to just stay there. I think Coleman is a great example of them seeming to do the right thing. He was two things: not as good as everybody thought and had some severe injuries so seeing how they are handling him seems fair even if it's token minutes it's still game minutes at an elite school. That seems like more than anyone could expect in his situation. Then I look at after college experiences. I think Boeheim has supported his guys, even guys who weren't necessarily golden boys while they were here. Take a look at Devendorf being on the staff now. In fact the entire staff is all alumni who played for JB, including guys who weren't major stars like Hopkins. This whole take is not intended to be arguing with you. It's just probably a lot more complicated of a situation than it seems and really it would be easy for any recruit a look at this one way or the other just depends on where they're coming from and what other people told him etc. Recruiting is a tough game clearly.
