That being said, I am cautiously optimistic they can be serviceable. In 2010, when we had the best defense we have had at SU since Freeney, we had one guy who had seen meaningful snaps in his career (Tribbey), but primarily as a backup. Then you had Andrew Lewis who was a career backup until that point (a redshirt senior, mind you) and another redshirt senior (Perkins) who had been a career backup to that point, too. Then you had Jay Bromley, a lightly recruited true freshman who ended up being a force later in his career, as the fourth guy & Corey Boatman as a little used 5th.

If everyone stays healthy - and that's a big if, I realize - this unit has a lot more talent than that one. Not nearly as much experience, but I think the redshirt freshmen have a load more talent/potential than Lewis/Perkins. And Raymon is better than Tribbey, when healthy. Not to say anything about Clark & Cross.
