North Carolina got taken down last night at home. North Carolina was #5 playing there biggest rival and seemingly had the game in hand, but still managed to give the game away at the end. We pulled our game out. Something to be thankful for. Nothing you can say about this. The rebounding is absolutely abysmal and needs to be corrected. This is one of those situations where I sometimes feel JB plays to win today rather than do something that might cost him a game now in favor of longer range improvement in the team. We need to do something to shake things up. I don't have a suggestion, but I don't particularly care if we win all of these games now if we're ultimately going to fall on our face coming down the stretch or in the tournament because we can't keep the opponent off of the glass. Agreed. He has been atrocious on the offensive end. I was surprised there wasn't more of an effort last night to get minutes for Brandon. I would be curious to have JB truly answer that question rather than give the stock we play the guys that we think are right for the situation kind of answer. Let's hope so. KJo may have turned things around for himself last night. It would be nice to see James get it going, I am not sure anyone else on the team is really a better shooter from distance than what they are showing. Maybe this offsets how bad we are in rebounding a bit. Ultimately, I don't think you can be great in one area and abysmal in another and go far in the tournament. I think you need to be great in a couple of areas and at least fair in the areas where you are not good. It's hard to know whether we look as good as KY or some of the other top 5 caliber teams or not. Clearly on offense we don't, but we don't really know how their offenses would look going up against our defense? Something tells me they may not look as spectacular as they have against the teams they have been facing. Time will tell on that front...but I am in agreement, I would like to see us improve our shooting and rebounding and not simply hope that we can continue to get it done in the ugly manner we have been doing it as of late.
