Some real info on CJ...sounds good for him coming back

talk about misleading headline-- what he should do and what he will do are totally different things-- i take nothing from that article that makes me feel any better

I don't agree no spends this much time researching a decision just to throw caution to the wind at the end of it. If the reports were mid to late 1st round than the headline would have been different.

I think he's basing his opinion on what the scouts are saying.

i see this as good news, if anything, since he likely received similar news from draft advisory board.

What should someone use as their headline if they have some actual information on what CJ's thinking?

Thanks for the link, Gabjon.

All I can objectively take from this is that the scouts, at least the ones featured in this article, feel Fair would be be better served by coming back. That's encouraging.

Remains to be seen what CJ thinks or what else he has been told.

yeah just read this myself. sounds like the consensus is that a year back would help his stock, but who knows dosent guarantee hel make that choice. would be nice to see him do some serious work i year 1 of the ACC though. Pretty high hopes for the squad with him back.

An athlete always believes he'll succeed and dollar signs can turn anyone's head.

But the reality is...next season the Orange can be CJ's team.
He as the opportunity to be "the" standout in the ACC.
He can be All-conference... even All-American and improve skills such as going to his right.
Bottom line: next year he could well be a top 5 pick.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't wind up seeing it that way.
(And I'm not often surprised).

I am somewhat optimistic after reading that article and certainly take that as some good news. The NBA executives pretty much mirrored the same thoughts we have been saying on this board for the past few weeks regarding C.J and the draft. I'd have to imagine though that it sounds a helluva lot better coming from the NBA personal than it does coming from us on this board in the mind of C.J fair. With that said, if C.J is reading this board I hope you come back man, we are really gonna need you next year! First beer is on me.

Good to see all the positive comments and all the people urging CJ to stay one more year. If he can work on his right hand and extend his range, quicken his shooting motion on 3s, and get a little stronger, I think he could be a lottery pick next seaosn.

Agreed. The thing is, he need only make some incremental improvements to his game to get to that elite / all american level.

CJ is a really good player.

CJ is a really good player.

And the improvements that CJ should work on would fit in nicely with the SU team concept, such as:
Increase his scoring - for CJ shows increases each year, for SU we need to replace lost points.
Outside shooting - CJ should show his increased range, SU can use some good outside shooting. And with DC2 and
Grant inside moving CJ out a little will help with spacing and those two will be a serious threat
rebound any misses. And since CJ is our best returning shooter - it is a good fit.

And awards such as all ACC, and AA consideration are nice for him and good pub for the school.

Sometimes players who are auditioning for the league can do so at the detrement of the team. Not only do I not think that is in CJs nature but most of the improvements are of a win/win variety. I hope he comes back.

The comments from the NBA guys make a lot of sense.

MCW is getting drafted on potential. He has great measurables, has shown really good skills, and his game very clearly translates to an NBA position.

CJ will get drafted on what he shows. His game doesn't match up with an NBA position the way MCW's does. CJ needs to show what he can do before he will become a lock 1st rounder. CJ has shown a ton of improvement, and JB's history shows that he will showcase CJ next year and put CJ in a really great position to become a high draft pick.

If CJ can increase his averages from 14/7 this your to say 18/9 next year, I don't see him dropping out of the first round, even with a packed draft class.

Late first round teams are more likely to pick polished players who can help right away.

I still don't think he's a lottery pick next year, unless he's a first team AA.

Good article. It makes sense for CJ to return and improve his outside scoring numbers along with the rest of his game as he has each year.

Thanks for the article! It's nice to get insights from NBA people. I hope that CJ is back for next year because we can use his talents. I hope he continues to grow as a bball player and can have a good career in NBA. Funny how the western guy mentioned his right hand which many here thought he would have to work on. I hope he works on that off hand because he will be tough to deal with if he can go both ways.

I'm grateful for the article and do believe it offers us a bit more hope of seeing CJ back in orange next season. That said, as others have already noted, sometimes young guys don't always make what we consider logical choices. But if CJ has received this information and was giving both moves serious consideration already, I think we should see these evaluations as good news. And it's true, he has been continuing to show improvement, would benefit from more improvement, and has a chance for it to be HIS team this year without anyone's shadow to obscure his steady workmanship. Imagine a bit better of a drive, and the same 3pt % combined with more attempts. The article has brightened my day(night)!

Seems like he's waiting for someone to give him a 1st round guarantee. If he gets it, so long CJ. Definitely worries me that it is taking this long. After the season I was about 95% confident he would be back. Now I'm down to almost 50-50.

Right if he wanted to come back he would have done so. Makes me think he is looking to go, but if he comes back and his numbers don't improve next year than his draft stock will drop like rock, so I get it its not an easy decision.

Wow. The way some of you think due diligence should be conducted amazes me. Kid is making a 7 figure decision, balancing dreams and emotion, and you think he should rush it so you feel better about next years team.

Quit making me feel bad for being selfish!

Surprised we don't have any legit inside scoop on this. Bees/Jake, you have any gut feeling on CJ?
