not much here really

it looks like some of them are being forced to pose with the guns and the white dudes in the back look like they want nothing to do with this

Which is dumber? Duke releasing this photo... or Syracuse hiring a guy with " violent and misogynistic lyrics." to perform at a family event at the Dome? Seems like a case of bad judgment in both places.

Both are really bad but I think the photo (cause it actually happened) wins out. Maybe it's a generational thing but in this day and age, I see nothing good happening with that photo. Duke is a very respected institute of higher learning. Whoever thought that photo was a good idea needs a good talking to. I'm cringing just looking at it and I hate Dook.

There's a notable segment of folks who will not have a problem with this, hell they might even applaud it.

So, we're just going to ignore the fact that our football team had several members pose with guns at Fort Drum?

It was a trip to West Point where they took some target practice. I understand it looks bad, but in context, as a Duke fan, I have no problem with it.

And take this FWIW, but I would legitimately say that had any team posed like this.

No comparison; Duke was at West Point. The guns were in context. The only problem is with those that are too lazy to comprehend the context. Superior military weapons keep us free in a world filled with belligerent retrogade ideologies. On the other hand, there is no excuse for violent misogynistic public behavior paid for by a University with funds that parents paid which were largely meant for education and complimentary activities. There is nothing justifiable about promotion of random violence, anarchy and attack on societal norms of decency.

So they were at West Point and had some target practice. Fine. Does that then make it wise to publicize a picture with them holding automatic weapons? Someone didn't think this out far enough.

They posed for a picture before target practice at West Point. Many schools even Cornell still have ROTC.

It's the imagery that's problematic. No one will know or care why they were like that or what they were doing. You show a pic of them training with cadets it's a diff story.

If you see the whole picture there is a cadet behind them to the far right. Somebody just enlarged one part of the photo.

It's a different photo altogether...
Yeah, now you get to see one of them pointing his gun towards the camera man. Anyone who knows anything about guns knows you don't point a gun at someone or something unless you're going to shoot it.
Still a very unnecessary and unwise published photo.

They are in a simulator. Those hoses on the deck plug in to the back of the weapons to simulate recoil in the weapon.

No problem with them having the guns and having their picture taken. I doubt K will care. Some may have forgotten that K used to coach at West Point which is probably the only reason they were there. Now, the guy without a gun flashing what could be contrued as gang signs, that could be a bigger problem.

utterly harmless

just an excuse for whiny ass Duke or Gun haters to step up onto a dirt clod and pretend they have seized the moral high ground
