The site linked is the official SEC site. For about 5-10 minutes it had on the front page an announcement that Missouri had officially joined the SEC. It has been taken down. As the tweeters say, some bonehead published it live by mistake. Oops.

SEC

Talk about amateur hour. For a few minutes tonight the SEC posted several pages announcing Missouri as its 14th member. Granted, we all know this is coming, but seriously guys? Somebody's getting fired.

Here's a tweet with a link to the screenshots.

Some of the dates aren't right, but there's way too much info there. This looks like real screw up.

Team Speed Kills, as always, was all over this tonight.

Isn't that an NCAA violation, when you tweet about a team before it signs it's LOI?

whoa...maybe this finally puts everything in play...Big 12 now needs one or two or three...maybe WVU, Louisville, and Cincy all gone from BE...hopefully, ND goes to ACC...with...who cares

Someone was saying that there has never been any talk of 11 so it would probably still be 10 (WVU) or 12. Since they have this Lville mess now, the figure it will be 12 and the 3rd team will be Cincy with a slight chance of BYU. If all 3 BE teams then the B12 will have killed off the BE.

It will not be 12, Texas and OU are against it. They calls the shots. WVU or Lville will be the 10th team and that's it. Small chance to go to 11 but I don't really see a reason.

Big 12 has missed out on the national championship game something like 3 times out of the past 5 years because of the conference playoff game. Less than 12 teams makes the path to the national championship game much easier with the BCS system currently in place. B12 does not have equal revenue sharing so having additional teams and playoff game does not benefit the big teams (Texas/OU) like it benefits all teams in a conference where the money is split evenly.

Considering University presidents are conflict avoiders and we had senators from Kentucky and West Virginia holding press conferences this week to take veiled shots at each other, I can think of one gigantic reason. The Big 12 may not have wanted 11 originally, but I think Louisville and WVU are a package deal after the events of the week.

And Texas said they will never accept TCU either. Things change.
