Davis alleges he was molested until the age of 27.  He's 39 now, so that would mean he was molested until 1999.  He went to the police in 2003 to report this, and he was told the statute of limitations had run out.  At least that's what I've gathered from the little bit that I've heard.

I know at the point Davis was 27, it was no longer child molestation, and I don't know what it would be called, but if the sexual contact was unwanted it would still be illegal even at 27 years old.

Surely the statute of limitations in NY for reporting an unlawful sexual act is longer than 4 years?  And surely the police would have at least opened an investigation had they been told it occurred only 4 years prior to the initial report?
