Right. No game at Metlife would or ever has come close to filling the stadium unless it involves ND, Michigan, or Penn State, teams with huge alumni presence in NYC area and travel extremely well. (So yes, as has been noted here, our games against Ped St and ND, assuming they go forward, won't be fun - it will be a 70-80/30-20 opponent/SU fan ratio.) Just look at the attendance history of the Kickoff Classic. The only games in which attendance exceeded 70,000 involved ND or Ped State. SEC - nah. Florida probably has the biggest alumni presence in NYC and would draw the most. Tenny, Bama, etc - fans travel well but draw from the local area is nil, thus attendance decent but the stadium won't be near full. 60K traveling? No way. Tennessee-Iowa in the 1984 KO Classic brought lame 54,000 fans. Only one other team ever played in the Kickoff Classic - Auburn vs. Miami in 1984 which drew 51,000. SU like. Wisconsin - no. Ranked team with soon to be all-time leading rusher at Kickoff Classoc against ranked SU brought 51,000 fans. Wiscy travels Ok but little NYC alumni presence. Nebraska - travel well, but limited NYC alumni presence (despite there being at least 3 NYC alum bars I know of). The Corn has played in the KO Classic three times: the first ever KO Classic in 1983 versus Penn State (71,000 attendance), 1988: Corn-Texas A&M (51,000 attendance), and 1994: Corn with Tommy Frazier - West Virginia (54,000 attendance). Penn State was defending national champs in 1983 and Nebraska was preseason #1. Other Corn games were lame in attendance. Anyway, UEO is right. Michigan should play in Metlife as it would draw attendance similar to ND and Penn State.
