Let's hope Julian Whigham is recovering well. I expect this SU football team to bounce back. We all saw the FSU scores and especially the Clemson score, so we understood the probability at play. I gather that most of us adjusted our expectations accordingly. It's impossible to know what it will look like though. In the first half I thought the SU body language was a little fragile, but I can understand that. They played hard in the second half as they always do! I would have loved to see Loeb get to take a shot at the end zone.
On another note yesterday Miami was ranked #23 in the BCS before losing to Duke. Somehow Wisconsin was ranked #22 in the BCS yesterday before taking care of business and winning it's 6th consecutive game since losing to Ohio State. Miami has lost 3 in a row now, so one would expect them to fall out of the rankings finally. We all know Wisconsin should only have 1 loss because the outcome of their game early in the season against Arizona State was the result of an error by the officials in that game. To make matters worse for Wisconsin fans ASU was ranked #19 in the BCS this week with its 2 losses which in fact should be 3.
All this is to say that college football has issues and most of college football's issues are rooted in bias. No computer will remove bias because bias is a built-in feature of the human condition. We all are biased in various ways. Bias blinds. But when it comes to college football some are clearly more biased than others, or perhaps they just act out on their biases more even when they have jobs that demand that they be impartial about college football. This of course breeds more bias sometimes even from those who normally regulate their behavior.
