Good stuff for sure. Very interesting matchup on a # of levels. SJU losing Wray to Penn is a massive loss for sure though they hired internally so they have that going for them as far as continuity. They will also offer a very unique d matchup with two defenders at 6'6 and 6'5 respectively. Gross had a very good year last year and will cause problems. Like BU they return a very good freshmen scorer but lost their overall top playmaker as you noted. Tough to get a read on them as even last year they were a bit jekyll and hyde. Lost by two to Duke at Duke and then blew out Rutgers and Towson both on the road and beat Penn. On the other hand they lost to Sacred Heart (albeit a good SH team in the opener), lost to Umass at home, and lost to High Point twice. Appears they lost 2 of their top 3 scorers in Lacalandra and Watters though they do bring back their top Assist guy from the midfield. I think it's clear much like vs BU SU has to be better in the clearing game. They got away with some major issues in the clear game vs BU that I am not sure they will against most of the teams on their schedule. I also worry about the fogo depth behind Mullen. While he certainly couldn't get into any sort of rhythm it wasn't the performance you were looking for from Drew Angelo. Roster cap considerations likely played a massive role but only bringing in 1 FOGO this past offseason will haunt this team if Mullen gets hurt or just has a game where he doesn't have it. Angelo so far in again limited draws is 6-21 when you include last year and the BU game. Captain obvious but that's not gonna cut it when Maryland is rolling three + guys deep at better then 50%. Olenik is the only other FOGO on the roster and he likely needs a college weight program to get where he needs to be. Keep an eye on him as the season progresses
