Unfortunately, in this day and age, and given the kinds of activities we like to hold in bad weather (including, for now, basketball), a domed stadium is a great facility to have. But like any facility, it needs not only M/O (as 96 likes to put it), but also capital improvement from time to time. IMO, that time is now, especially with the new ACC revenue available. We have many title 9 sports to support, but since we're not paying SEC wages to our HC, there should be some money left, god willing, to spiff up the Dome and bring it into the 21st century.
 
You (and others) may feel a new stadium is needed. I'm sure there are many viewpoints on this subject. But for me, I think 20M in improvements would be a reasonable investment in the Dome to be able to use it for 20 more years.
 
That'll also leave open the possibility of a basketball only arena -- and if I have anything to say about it, GT's not going to set foot in there unless it guarantees us 5,000 seats at the Verizon for a home and home.
