Women's Lacrosse Staff Debate: NCAA Tournament Edition

The reigning ACC champions are playing consistently well this season. With a 10-3 record, the Orange has fallen to No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Florida and No. 17 Boston College. This team remains 3-1 in the ACC – after overcoming UVA, Duke and Notre Dame. There is no reason to doubt the Orange when we approach tournament time.

With a fairly balanced attack – the Orange have four players with 36 points, or higher. Specifically, senior Kayla Treanor – one of the greatest attackers to note in the sport of women’s lacrosse – leads the way with 54 points and 114 draw controls. Additionally, senior Halle Majorana follows Treanor with 44 points, and freshman Nicole Levy is having quite the rookie campaign with 38 points. The Syracuse defense is anchored by redshirt, senior Mallory Vehar (13gb, 10ct); who possesses the poise and experience to lead a solid defensive unit.

This team will need to face No. 3 North Carolina and No. 5 Louisville prior to the ACC Tournament. If the Orange perform well from hereon out, they could find themselves with a top 4 seed heading into NCAAs, which would give them two home games in the Carrier Dome.
