Staten Island RB Augustus Edwards

Can you add any particulars about him? What type of rating does he have?
Goes to Totenville, same as Cornelius so that can not hurt.
He is big at 6'1 210.
I think he is more of a OLB/SS type and not RB but we will see.
Has good offers early: Rutgers, Vandy, Temple, UCONN, Purdue and us.

There seems to be about 5 real good city kids this year w/ other good offers.
Augustus Edwards, Chris Laviano, Wayne Williams, LaRay Smith and Ebenezer Ogundeko.
Anyone know any other can't miss city kids?

This may not be a popular opinion but Rutgers, Vandy, Temple and UConn do not qualify as "good offers" to me. They are teams SU is supposed to be better than.

We're really pillaging the 2-star recruits in New York.

They' are good offers because all those programs are better than us right now. Just reality

I completely agree that NYS does not have the best football talent. But there is about 5-7 kids a year that can contribute on the BCS level. And it would be dumb of SU to try and not lock these kids up in our home state. Then we should look elsewhere for the rest of the class.

We can not compete with PSU, Michigan, OSU, ND and most SEC schools right now. These are the recruiting battles we need to win to keep upgrading our talent so eventually we can compete with the likes of those schools.

Kid has 5 BCS offers and it's only March.

Great strategy. Maybe Marrone should hire Mike Farrell.

Exactly. I think Marrone has proved that he can spot talent. His offers at this point in the year have been very well placed. Now landing those kids hasn't really happened, but he's not throwing out ships purely to bring in NYC kids, especially in March.

Well, according to TOS he's a three star and the #37 ranked RB in the country - about 7 spots higher than that Laray Smith kid that everyone seems to think is a must get.

I think that Doug and crew have done a very good job at identifying talent early which is why we had to fend off the big boys late this year. If Doug can pull off a 500 year with the foundation he has laid the improvements to our facilities and the lure of the ACC he will do more than hold his own.

Goota get Laray S
visted practice last week.

mith in here. Edwards is good but Smith excels. Either Smith or Kamara. I would think would or should be our number 1 RB target.

Considering Kamara has an Alabama offer, I'd say its safe to assume he's our #1 target.
