stats showing how rare a season cooney's having

ps those other 7 sub major schools had a combined record of 76-138

what we're seeing is totally unusual

So what is your take on this info exactly?
my take is that someone else should get his minutes next year

my take on gbinije and christmas is they're really good

gbinije was spectacular for about 10 games..he was awful the last 3. Everyone has ups and downs. Im not disagreeing with you, but he is a valuable player. Boeheim wouldnt dedicate that much playing time to him if he wasn't.

that's why i look at the whole season

Silent G took a bit to catch fire though..and his flame went out last 4 games. I guess overall he was good yea, but id rather see consistency like Rak.

i noticed a subtle shift in semantics lately. JB when referring to trevor started calling him our second best shooter a few weeks back. he's now referring to cooney as our best shooter again.

Why is everyone adding rebounds into the equation? Who cares how many rebounds the guy gets, he's a guard.

Shooting %, steals, assists... Those are much more important to me for my starting 2-guard than # of rebounds, although that helps in the zone.

He will start and he will get over 35 minutes per game. That is one thing I know for sure barring injury

Giving up on players after their Junior year is stupid. If we followed the OP thinking, James Southerland would of never played his Senior year after he shot 20% in conference his Junior year.

there must be some guards getting more rebounds that that for the list to be so small

lots of guards get 3 or more rebounds per game

from just this year

lots of syracuse guards since 97-98

That list doesn't make me want TC anymore, by it sure makes me wish we had Battier.
battier and cooney attempt the same shots and battier hit 40% more of them. (not 40 percentage points higher, 3.2 is 40% more than 2.3)

if you're battier, go ahead and chuck

How about Guard X
36% from three
2.3 Rebounds a game
1.3 turnovers a game

...Dion Waiters.

Because SU plays zone defense exclusively, opposing teams tend to shoot from farther distances (even beyond the 3-point line). Shots from farther away tend to result in long caroms off the rim when missed, creating greater chances for guards at the top of the zone to grab those rebounds. That's what JB's defense hopes for - long shots that miss. If the SU guards are not getting those rebounds, they tend to end up in the hands of the opposing team for what is called an offensive rebound and another offensive set. I imagine the numbers would show that when our guards got more defensive rebounds, our team overall had a better winning percentage. Dion and MCW were great at getting rebounds due to their length and jumping ability. We had other teams that did well without the higher numbers because we were a running team (guards leaking out to try and get ahead of the defense) but overall, I have to guess if our guards rebound well, we do well.

difference between .313 and .36 is significant.

that would be another point per game

and waiters was tremendous inside the arc. .529 2 pt %.

waiters shooting was just ok. his bread and butter was getting to the hoop.

That list doesn't make Cooney look good it shows how with all those attempts and minutes your numbers can be inflated. Shoot less and he would be more efficient.
Simple question Bees who has had a better year Trevor Cooney or Michael Gbinije?
