did they ever explain the call? by rule the clock over rides the red lights.. my question is which clock is the real clock? the espn replay shows two clocks in view, with one the shot was good with one it was late? did they every explain the call or just rule it late?

much like the dome where the horn goes off several tenths before the clock hits zero.. just adds to the confusion, especially when its the 3rd part of the rule and should never really come into play on a tv game.

im pretty sure its based on the red light. at least thats the nba rule.

The game clock attached to the shot clock is the official one; not sure if they explained it fully.

Edit: I was also under the impression that the red light - not the clock - is the authority, but don't quote me on that.

Backboard clock is the official one ... not the scoreboard clock.

I don't see anything in the rule book that states which clock is the official clock.

it goes clock with tenths, then red light, then horn.

are the clocks even synced at both ends?

like in the dome for fball which is the official clock?

clock-light-horn. 99.9% sure that is what is

Yeah, but you can't determine when the horn went off during a replay so its inclusion in that sequence doesn't matter. Clock-light is all that matters on a replay.

correct, that is why horn is the last in the clock-light-horn pecking order ;)

actually it wouldnt be that hard to use the horn if you wanted to include sound metrics in the replay.

The link below gives a good explanation:

"In the rulebook, it's Rule 5 under, 'Scoring and Timing Regulation, Section 7, Beginning and End of the Period,'" Driscoll said. "In games with a tenth of a second, game clock display where an official courtside monitor is used -- which we had tonight -- the reading of zeroes on the clock is to be used to determine whether a field goal (is good) before or after the expiration of time and the period.
"In the process, by rule, we go to the courtside monitor. Any shot near the expiration of time for the first or second half, we review. Upon our review, we determined that the ball remained in the hand of the Wisconsin player at the reading of zeroes. [...] By rule, we have to go by the clock that is on the backboard."
