Strength and conditioning

It's hard to know for sure but the difference between this year and last and how they wore down a factory indicates that the strength and conditioning coaches are doing an amazing job. New approaches are working
I posted last night that you could already see this vs Pitt. Pitt got beat up by SU. And, last night, they proved they could go toe-to-toe with anyone.

Good observation. I noticed last night that many times we stopped someone dead in their tracks and pushed them back for the tackle. In previous years, we would get road-graded.

You beat me to this post. It may have been the deciding factor in the win last night. That NFL d-line was gassed. Our O-line was getting push late, and Strick. was able to pound them to chew the clock.
Also, the added size and strength of Dungey may be why he has survived this long, and allowed this team to at least have some sort of a running threat.

The simple response to your post is YES! The S&C team is doing an amazing job with these kids.

At the very least S&C is a part of the success of this team and HCDB's system. The system requires that our kids practice at nearly double speed, getting nearly double reps, effectively practicing for the equivalent of 1.5-2X the practice of a normal team. You cannot get this many reps in without being in shape. While actual practice time is limited, how that time is used is not limited.

Also, to avoid substitutions, you have to have the strength and endurance to stay on the field. This is what beats top 25 teams in the fourth, they simply cannot hang with our guys because they are gassed.

The same conditioning allows the team to be more flexible offensively and defensively. Kids can simply do more because they are trained to do more. Having more reps in practice results in better skills and timing as well as more schemes that can be run. This aspect is especially important as the offense really is a simple offense, taking advantage of what the defense is willing to give, moving the chains and the occasional big pay to keep opposing D's honest.

It was incredibly hot and humid at LSU, and our D never looked tired. That's all you need to know.

I was amazed last night at how SU could be so physical, then run back into formation and be physical again in just a few seconds. I don't think I've ever been in that kind of shape in my life. How does a three-hundred pounder do that?
