No. 7 Duke at No. 3 Syracuse
The Blue Devils will head up to the Carrier Dome this weekend to face No. 3 Syracuse in an ACC clash. Duke (6-0) has yet to be truly tested, their closest game being a nine goal victory against High Point on Feb. 20.
Syracuse was handed its first loss this past week by the Northwestern Wildcats in a thrilling OT comeback. Their game against Duke will mark the fourth straight ranked opponent that they have faced, with two more ahead, playing Virginia and Florida following this game.
The Blue Devils are led by Catriona Barry and Katie DeSimone, scoring 41 and 33 points respectively through six games. Maddie Jenner has tallied a whopping 87 draw controls–a number that currently leads the nation by more than 30.
The Syracuse Orange have established a very balanced attack thanks to Meaghan Tyrrell, Emma Tyrrell, Meg Carney, and Emily Hawryschuk. Hawryschuk is coming off a six-goal performance while Emma Tyrrell tallied four goals and three assists against Notre Dame.
It will take a miracle at this point down 7 after the 1st quarter to win but it could happen. We have to start winning the draws to even have a chance now though.
