Do you guys feel that UConn is rated correctly? I think they are wildly over-ranked everywhere. When it comes down to it, they lost the best player off a .500 team in conference play and wind up ranked #4 preseason?? I know they have some talented players, but their tournament run last year was 85% Kemba Walker, who is gone. And even with the guy, this group went 9-9 in BE play.

two words: Andre Drummond

Sure, but the tournament counts as well. They won 5 games in 5 days, so they went 14-9 in BE play, 32-9 overall.

That being said, they could def be overranked. But that's often what happens to the defending nat champ.

Two more: Fab Melo.

I'm not saying the guy won't be a super star but a Top5 ranking based on one freshman and some spare parts is kinda crazy. We'll see how they do this year.

Devil's advocate: SU lost a bit from last year, no?

A little over ranked now. Before AD, they were ranked ~10 which I thought was much too high.

Forget what they lost and focused on what they have. That's always the important thing.

I think Connecticut will have some problems scoring this year. Jeremy Lamb will probably elevate his game a bit, but no question they're going to need some additional scoring from someplace. However, their length and athleticism will be off the charts. They add DeAndre Daniels and Andre Drummond to a mix that already involved Alex Oriahki and Roscoe Smith. I'm not convinced of where the scoring will come from, but they will be tough to score against.

you could argue that both teams are deeper and have more overall talent this year, but they both lost their leader and "best" player, not saying rick jackson = kemba walker at all or even close, but very similar

I'm not asking about SU's ranking. I'm asking about what people think of Yukons.

This is SU's first top 5 preseason AP ranking since the 80s if I remember correctly.

Am I reading that right? Only 3 teams got 1st place votes and NC got 62 out of 65?

...sort of makes you think that the ACC needed 'Cuse and Pitt...otherwise they would be considered no where near the elite bball league to go with an otherwise mediocre football league...maybe we should ask the ACC to pay half the cost of leaving the BE...

Drummond suffered a broken nose and a mild concussion in practice today. Has to play with a mask for six to eight weeks haha

That is not funny at all.
